I am always amazed at how a few simple, clear statements can generate so much lit-speak jargon. Witness the comment sections of Ron Silliman's Blog. In some cases, no matter how many times I read a comment entry, I find nothing but convoluted, over-stuffed writing. I haven't a clue what these people are talking about. Who are they writing to? Are they the product of bad, graduate literature programs, or perhaps they would like to be? Can't anyone just articulate what they think and feel in a clear, thoughtful, intelligent manner? Yipes.

Great to have a new reading series around town. The Union Square Poetry Series at PAs Lounge in Union Square, Somerville, is promising. Keith Waldrop delivered a brilliant, funny reading last Saturday. Seems like there are some new writers around the city too, as well as some old familiar faces and friends.

Just picked up Willie "Loco" Alexander and the Boom Boom Band Live. These songs were recorded at The Rat in Boston, and The Club in Cambridge, 1976. Man, it takes me back. Recordings are in the rough, but hey, what better way to listen to live, rockin' garage music. Recenlty I attended a Willie and the Boom Boom gig at Johnny D's in Davis Square. They sound better than ever, some of them in their 60s now!! Another fave Boston band is The Dowbeat 5. They've got some CDs out. This is an exquisite cross-generational band featuring JJ Rassler (of DMZ and others) at 54 sizzling on guitar, and Jennifer D'Angora (25) on lead vocals and guitar. This IS the Rocking Boston Sound at its Best.

Rumor: A pirate version of John Wieners' HOTEL WENTLEY POEMS could be in the making.

Good to see that you've rediscovered the blog. I'm looking forward to more posts.

A bootleg of the Wentley poems? Very nice. Please let me know if you hear anything more about this.

Joe,

I came across this on a rare tour of blogs. Thought you might enjoy a Willie story.

Yesterday at a friend's house Abigail found a copy of Willie's newest cd (Dog Bar Yacht Club?). I asked her to find Willie and she pointed his face out right away.

Love,
Amanda

'Who are they writing to?'

Hence my comment, there, yesterday: 'Yay, i'm on the Ron Silliman show!'

Agreed.

Oh! and have you noticed how you read a really long sentence, and think, 'That didn't make any sense'; and then you read it back again a few times, and realise that two or three commas were missing. Now, surely these literary intellectual types know how to use a comma, right? Which leaves me to believe that they do it on purpose to make the shit they right sound even more incoherent. An incoherence competition!

I feel better after that.
